Ochsner Lafayette General is beginning the expansion of the Ochsner Lafayette General Orthopedic Center, soon to become the Ochsner Lafayette General Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute. This major renovation and expansion will significantly enhance the center’s orthopedic treatment capabilities. The project includes a 17,200-square-foot upgrade to the existing orthopedic facilities and a 14,000-square-foot expansion dedicated to physical therapy and sports medicine services, with a total estimated cost of $19 million including equipment. This investment aims to elevate patient care and service offerings in orthopedics and sports medicine.

  • A warm wood-slat ceiling, with carefully detailed inset lighting adds warmth to the space.

  • The central nurse station directly off the lobby is positioned to tie the sports performance and physical therapy gyms together functionally.

  • The physical therapy gym has expansive views of the outdoors. Rubber flooring is used throughout for comfort underfoot and to aid in acoustics.

  • The sports performance gym has a continuous window above to maximize daylight to the north side of the building.

  • Bold color is used throughout the gym to enhance the energetic athletic feel.

  • Open shared provider and tech stations allow for better communication between staff.

  • An additional x-ray machine was brought in to accommodate volume and minimize wait times.

  • Exam rooms renovated to match existing finishes for cohesion of the now single clinic.
