The Baton Rouge Area Foundation directed a visionary Master Plan for this 1000+ acre area comprising the Baton Rouge General Medical Center, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Ochsner Medical Complex -The Grove, and the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. To advance the Master Plan, WHLC Architecture produced the Infrastructure Implementation Plan to develop guidelines for the area’s future expansion.
The Plan entails enhancements to bike/ped/transit access, streetscapes, signage, lighting, public art, community gathering spaces, and recreation amenities. Higher-density development is envisioned to integrate healthcare, commercial and residential growth into a more mixed-use neighborhood and model health district.
