United Mississippi Bank, Bude

Bude, MS

The United Mississippi Bank (UMB) Bude branch was designed to replace an outdated and undersized facility, adapting the successful branch prototype previously developed by WHLC for the UMB’s Vidalia location. As the first new commercial building constructed in Bude in nearly fifty years, the project represented a significant investment in the town and its future.

Completed in two phases, the 4,600 SF building employs clean architectural language and efficient layout derived from the proven Vidalia model, reinforcing UMB’s established identity while responding to the needs of a small rural market.

Working in collaboration with Caroline Alberstadt of Alberstadt Lambert Design, the interior incorporates warm, timeless materials and finishes, including rich wood-stained teller counter millwork, elegant furnishings, decorative lighting, and curated artwork. A central dome introduces natural light from multiple directions, enhancing the quality and character of the interior environment. Together, these elements create a welcoming, residential-inspired atmosphere for customers and staff alike.

The completed branch has been well received by employees and the community, providing enhanced customer experience and a modern workplace that reflects UMB’s long-term commitment to Bude.
