North Oaks Health, Clinic, Building 3

Hammond, LA

Building the Missing Link

The new Clinical Office Building (COB) II expands outpatient care capabilities at North Oaks Health System with 95,000 square feet of new clinical space across five floors. Strategically positioned, the facility connects the existing Clinical Office Building I to the main hospital through a series of internal corridors, and covered walkways, contributing to a more cohesive and accessible healthcare campus.

The first floor features a retail pharmacy, central draw area, eye care clinic, optical shop, and café. Floors two through four accommodate flexible multi-specialty clinic pods, designed to support collaborative team-based care and future adaptability. The fifth floor houses infusion services with a dedicated infusion pharmacy and three bay models offering varying levels of privacy and panoramic views of the campus.

The building’s exterior integrates campus-standard brick, metal paneling, and glass into a fresh architectural composition that honors the existing context while introducing a refined identity. A protected ambulance/service drive and patient-friendly access points further enhance functionality and care delivery.

Interiors

1/7
  • Each floor features a large waiting area to accommodate the muti-disciplinary clinics. Campus-standard wood toned flooring was used for continuity between buildings with a new pattern introduced to anchor seating and brighten the space.

  • All clinics have a central check-in with soft cove lighting that washes vertical surfaces, reducing shadows in the corners and drawing a sense of daylight deep into the plan.

  • Terrazzo flooring was selected for each elevator vestibule to accommodate heavy equipment loads. The chevron laminated pattern provides a fresh, modern, and durable backdrop for branding and signage.

  • The Optical Shop features standard Rakks shelving, custom wood storage cabinets, mirrors, and lighted wood display shelves paired to create a high-end retail look.

  • Globe pendant fixtures and a herringbone flooring pattern provide added sophistication to the Optical Shop retail space.

  • A retail pharmacy is located on the first floor for easy access. Floor-to-ceiling glass partitions are used to separate the pharmacy waiting area from the corridor without obscuring the pharmacy from view.

  • The coffee shop features a large floating counter to minimize disrupting views. Outlets are provided for multifunctional use by patients, visitors, or staff.

News and Insights about Clinic, Building 3

Field Report

Less than two years ago, this five-story, 96,000-square-foot clinic was just a small parking lot. Thanks to many partners, Building 3 now stands seamlessly on campus as if it’s always been there. Watch the timelapse video from North Oaks Hospital.
