As part of the 130-acre Airline Highway park, this facility addresses its entry face to the highway and adjacent sports fields. The structure backs up to a wooded pond area with a large multipurpose room, covered porch, and open deck. 3 indoor basketball courts, plus an indoor training court for football, soccer, and baseball are provided along with meeting spaces and classrooms.
The facility is designed to be a FEMA Safe Room for emergency shelter needs. It meets federal standards established by FEMA and qualifies as an emergency shelter for hurricane evacuees.
